Are Hankison Alumina and DelSORB® HQ-A4 the same?
No, not exactly. Both are activated alumina desiccants used in adsorption dryers, but DelSORB® HQ-A4 is a specifically defined 4 mm premium grade, while Hankison Alumina is the general standard grade and is specified as 1/8″ (approx. 3.2 mm) in older documentation. When replacing the desiccant, you should therefore choose the type specified for your dryer.

Is an alternative filter element as good as an original filter element?
An alternative filter element can perform just as well as an original filter element if it is correctly selected and meets the requirements for the filter housing, filtration grade, airflow, pressure drop and compressed air quality. The most important factor is therefore not whether the filter is original or alternative, but whether it provides the required filtration performance, reliability and total cost of ownership.

When should a compressed air filter be replaced?
A compressed air filter should be replaced when it can no longer maintain the required level of filtration or begins to affect system performance. This may be indicated by excessive pressure drop, reduced airflow, visible damage or an active filter alarm. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommended replacement interval and, at the same time, assess the actual condition of the filter.

What is the difference between a refrigerated dryer and an adsorption dryer?
A refrigerated dryer removes moisture by cooling the compressed air, causing water vapour to condense. An adsorption dryer uses a desiccant to remove moisture and can therefore achieve a significantly lower pressure dew point.
